Hike through the forest near the Wilden Kaiser mountain range and enjoy a lovely view over the Kaiserbachtal valley from the Stripsenjochhaus at the top.
If you’re still not satisfied, it’s well worth making a detour to the Stripsenkopf.

The car park at the Kössen mountain railway is recommended as the starting point for the walk.
The Scheibenwald Alm has been run by the Hörfarter family for three generations. Andreas Hörfarter currently manages the inn. Whilst in winter the rustic ski hut invites skiers to stop off for a cosy break, the summer months are dominated by traditional alpine farming. Hikers and cyclists can enjoy the company of the Braunvieh and Fleckvieh cattle from the Stroblhof in Walchsee. All year round, alongside local specialities, the restaurant serves dishes made with the farm’s own produce, such as milk, butter and meat.

Here you can watch the hand-finished delicacies maturing, ask the ‘Wild Cheesemaker’ lots of questions and take a peek (through glass) into the hallowed halls of craftsmanship, where the ‘Wild Cheesemaker’ transforms around 1,200 litres of hay milk into 700 delicious cheese wheels every day. For hygiene reasons, only the master cheesemaker is allowed into the production rooms themselves. But on the screen, you’ll feel like you’re right there: roll the film!

At 65 ha, the Schwemm is the largest contiguous moorland area in North Tyrol. The diversity of its wetlands makes this Natura 2000 site, designated since 2003, a natural gem. For example, of the approximately 70 dragonfly species found in North Tyrol, 33 can be found in the Schwemm. That is why preserving this moorland landscape, with its unique flora and fauna, is a key priority! A viewing tower near the Moarwirt allows visitors to experience the moor for themselves. Observing rare animal and plant species or taking part in a journey of discovery into the fascinating world of the “Schwemm” with our moorland experts are unforgettable experiences.

‘Hop on the gondola and head back to prehistoric times’ is the motto of the Steinplatte – for walkers and adventure-seekers of all ages.
Spanning an area of around 400 square metres, there is an interactive exhibition featuring real corals, life-size dinosaur replicas and a prehistoric underwater world, just as it once covered the Earth’s surface in the Steinplatte area. What’s more, there’s plenty of fascinating information to discover whilst walking and climbing along the Triassic Trail. On the four-kilometre-long circular route, which is suitable for pushchairs, there are loads of puzzles to solve. The stalactite cave takes cave explorers of all ages on a journey into the depths of prehistory. And after soaking up so much knowledge, the Triassic Beach – with its 30-metre-long tube slide and sandy beach – is the perfect place for swimming and splashing about.

The TV series ‘Der Bergdoktor’ has been filmed on the Wilder Kaiser since 2007. The tranquil village of Going, with its traditional roots and lovingly maintained by its residents, immediately caught the eye of the producers of *Der Bergdoktor*. The church, with its church square and the village well – the heart of Going – is widely known. Although all this is referred to as ‘Ellmau’ in the series ‘Der Bergdoktor’, it is exclusively Going that can be seen on screen. The “Wilder Kaiser” inn used to be the “Wagnerhaus” farm. In the series, it takes on the role of the inn and is run and looked after with great passion by Natalie O’Hara, alias Susanne Dreiseitl.

Right next to the Dagnhof are our 20x40-metre indoor riding arena, a dressage arena and a grass show jumping course. Our riding instructors offer professional riding lessons for beginners and those returning to the sport, as well as for leisure riders and ambitious riders. The via ferrata consists of three routes of varying difficulty.

In 2007, the Berchtesgaden Salt Mine was transformed into a modern interactive mine. This popular Bavarian tourist destination has thus become one of the world’s most innovative centres for experiencing salt mining. A cycle route along a forest track and through woodland, with an elevation gain of approx. 530 metres, leading to the newly built hut in a quiet woodland clearing. From there, you have an unobstructed view of the Wilder Kaiser, the Kitzbühler Horn and the Unterberg.

Cycle route partly along the road to Rettenschöss, then along the winding road to the “Schöne Aussicht” inn and on along forest tracks to the Burgeralm.
There, you’ll be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view of the Kaiser Mountains, the Hohe Tauern and even as far as the Großglockner. At this alpine pasture, spicy cheeses and alpine butter are produced with great craftsmanship and according to time-honoured traditions. These can also be purchased directly on site.

The Eisriesenwelt in Werfen is the largest ice cave in the world: the entire cave system stretches for over 42 km.
