Hiking and mountaineering are back in vogue, and above all, hiking in Kössen is an indescribable experience. One of the most beautiful walks is undoubtedly in the Kaiser Mountains. It’s about a 20-minute drive into the Kaiserbach Valley, and there the Wilder Kaiser already rises up before you.
Of course, you can also set off directly from the Hotel Alpina and enjoy wonderful hikes depending on your mood, preferences and the time you have available. The reception team – and especially Andreas Gruber will be happy to help you plan your hiking tour, or you can join one of the weekly guided hikes.

Smugglers’ Trail / Klobenstein

A wonderful walk steeped in history. The Schmugglerweg follows the old route of a Samer trail between Bavaria and Tyrol. A 33-metre-long suspension bridge spans the Großache gorge to the Klobenstein pilgrimage church.

Taubensee / Taubenseehütte

Experiencing nature

A walk offering lovely views of Kössen, its local mountain and the stunning Kaiser Mountains. After the climb, you’ll walk past the Taubenseehütte to Lake Taubensee.
The view of this beautiful mountain lake makes the climb well worth it.

Edernalm

A lovely walk starting right outside the hotel. Follow a forest track with a few inclines to reach the charmingly run Edernalm, which offers a beautiful view of Kössen.
